Time to play catch-up.  Haven't posted anything on this blog since before Thanksgiving, but a lot has happened since then.  I won't go into a lot of it, because most of it is really personal, but suffice it to say that I got some really bad news that knocked me for a loop, and I'm [...]

NaNoWriMo Wha?

What is NaNoWriMo?  Apparently it's National Novel Writing Month.  I've been hearing about this for years, and it always sounds like such a fun idea.  I suppose I've kind have been participating in it without realizing it, but not as seriously as some people are.  It's like a month long writing party for some, which [...]

Banned Books Week 2008

Just a friendly reminder that Banned Books Week started yesterday.  Stick it to The Man by reading something foul and offensive.  I recommend Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis.  It hasn’t been banned yet as far as I know, but give it time.  Give it time.

Yeah, it’s that time of year again.  Time for me to be an obnoxious librarian by reminding everyone of Banned Books Week, September 27–October 4, 2008.  In preparation, I present this article from the ALA.  Here’s a snippet, a list of books that were banned last year:

“And Tango Makes Three,” by Justin Richardson/Peter Parnell  Reasons: [...]

Genji

Some of you already know how much I admire Murasaki Shikibu.  No only did she write what many consider to be the first novel, she’s also named after my favorite color, and that’s just cool on both counts.  I just got this bit of news today and I thought it was neat.  Of course, it [...]

Neil and the Pandas

Thanks to Cute Overload once again for putting a smile on my face when I’m feeling a bit on the blue side.  Super duper treat for me, since CO had some fun teasing my most favoritest author ever, Neil Gaiman, and point out some exceptionally cute pics on his website.  Seriously folks, how cute is [...]

Not sure what it is, but I’ve had fairies on the brain for months.  Yeah, the comic has a lot to do with it, but now that I’m taking a break from the comic to write myself a little entertaining story, I go right back to writing about fairies.  Maybe it’s a phase, like when [...]
